Welcome to the new site everyone who has joined us thus far!
Yes, things happened rather suddenly but I believe I speak on behalf of the board when I say, “We are excited!” The weekend of the Doggie Dash we had a fantastic turnout - even ran out of vests for everyone to wear to identify our group - had a ‘blue’ party on Sunday at the Romp at Gabriel Park, and tons of new and existing members have already made it to the new site. Thank you all for coming out and supporting us, loving our wonderful companions, and helping keep this group going. There are SO many awesome things on the horizon and we (the board) truly believe the best is yet to come.
Here’s what is on the upcoming calendar/agenda:
Sunday, May 24: Westside Romp at Hazeldale Park 1pm
Sunday, June 7: Danes on the Beach (meet at Banks Supermarket at 9:45 am, leave at 10)
Also, Great Danes of Summer is coming up in August. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, August 29. We’ll be congregating for a day of fun in the park in Wilsonville. Directions and additional details to come later on. Please PM a board of director (Marlie’s Mom, Clara, or VegasRose) to volunteer to help. Every little bit counts!
For those of you who don’t know what the point of Great Danes of Summer (GDoS) is, let me tell you a little bit about it. First of all, we hold it at a park where we’re likely to have others around. This gives us a great opportunity to “talk Danes” with those curious about our gentle giants. Second, this is our primary fund raiser of the year. Holding GDoS helps us to have funds in the budget for parks maintenance, our emergency fund, and education. Third, we try to put together some demonstrations of canine events that even our four-legged friends get to participate in. There will be a barbecue, photographer, agility demonstration, rally demonstration, lots of treats for sale, raffles, and so much more. Come on out to enjoy yourself for the day.
Keep checking back on the website regularly as we continue to add to and improve the content. If there are topics you’d like to see or information you need, let us know. We have documented most of what was on the previous site and are happy to provide information to you via PDF until the archive on this site is functioning.
Hope to see you at the parks soon!
