The Doggie Dash is just a few days away and it’s not too late to sign up and be a part of the PDX Danes team! It’s just $25 to sign up and all money goes to support the animals at the Oregon Humane Society. You’ll get a t-shirt if you sign up ahead of time and we always have a blast with 1,000s of dogs, more people, and they shut down Naito Parkway so we can all stay safe. Plus there are always vendors, demonstrations, and a pancake breakfast ahead of time. Don’t miss out.
We’ll have a choice of two different walks…and it’s okay if we split up. We can meet up again afterward.

We’re meeting on the waterfront at the big battleship statue. It’s right near check in and registration and, hey, we won’t be hard to find! See y’all Saturday!!

Come north and join in the fun at Ross Park. This awesome off-leash park offers more than seven acres for your Dane to really stretch his or her legs. Join the gang at 1pm Sunday, April 4.

Join the PDX Danes in Portland at NW 23rd & Burnside for a great walkabout. Practice leash walking, get to know members of the group, and interact with the community all while window shopping in a great section of downtown Portland. This is a great event for anyone, even if you haven’t a Dane of your own yet. There are almost always a range of attendees with puppies to more senior Danes. Each has a personality unique to his or her own and yet they share common characteristics. Come find out for yourself and let your Dane enjoy a walk in this great location.

The 2010 Board of Directors for the Portland Great Dane Community is excited to present to its members another education event, this time on the killer that we all dread - Bloat & Torsion.
This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 13 from 3-5pm. The location is the Beaverton Resource Center located at 12500 SW Allen Boulevard.
Northwest Veterinary Specialties has graciously offered an emergency veterinarian to present to our group on this deadly problem for our best 4-legged friends. You won’t want to miss out.
I recently read a statistic indicating Great Danes are 41.4% more likely to bloat than any dog of mixed breeding. Here are a couple of stories that will come close to home:
